The Government and the Generalitat will study how to strengthen the Catalan Tax Agency

The central government and the Generalitat have agreed to create a joint working group to study how to strengthen the Agència Tributària de Catalunya (ATC), which must assume more responsibilities with the unique financing model included in the investiture agreement of Salvador Illa agreed with ERC.

The President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, pledged on October 16 in Parliament to quadruple the size of the ATC to prepare it for manage tax volume which will be assumed when the single financing model agreed by the ERC and the PSC becomes a reality.

The ATC’s main challenge is to take charge of personal income tax from 2026, a mission that requires it to prepare to give a significant increase in staff numbers.
