The government authorizes aid to all Andalusian municipalities affected by the damage caused by DANA

The central government divided the disaster zone declarations after DANA into two parts. In the first phase, the municipalities of the province of Valencia, Castilla La Mancha and, in the case of Andalusia, the only one in which a death was registered in Malaga, were incorporated. Then, in the decree which comes into force today after its publication in the BOE All municipalities of the autonomous community of Andalusia are included who will have access to support and funding benefits when declared as areas severely affected by a civil protection emergency.

This declaration, as highlighted by the Government Delegation, covers all the Andalusian municipalities concerned, including Jerez or El Ejidowhose municipal councils have expressed in recent hours their dissatisfaction at not appearing in the first list of areas declared catastrophic. This was also confirmed by the Andalusian Government, through the Minister of the Presidency, Antonio Sanz, during the plenary session of the Andalusian Parliament, interviewed by Vox.

“It is not my responsibility to defend the Spanish government, but Andalusia is included,” concluded Sanz, thus emphasizing a line of institutional loyalty and dialogue in the management of the emergency in Andalusia. However, at the same time, in the Jerez City Council, the mayor, María José García-Pelayo, defended an initiative to demand the declaration of the municipality as a catastrophic zone.

The Commission has identified 285 municipalities affected by DANA in Andalusia. The government has not published a complete list, but The Delegation emphasizes that all those who suffered damage due to the storm are covered.. They will be entitled to direct aid to repair damage, to financing facilities to make investments and will be included in agreements with the Insurance Compensation Consortium.

For its part, the Andalusian Government has authorized an expenditure of 75 million euros which includes a support plan for the affected agricultural sector and an allocation of 12 million euros to finance the municipalities affected by DANA.
