The government authorizes the entry into Spain of two Sahrawi activists, but will expel 20 others.

The government authorized the temporary entry into Spain of two Sahrawi activists who were in one of the asylum rooms at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport, who may be in the country while their respective requests for international protection are resolved.

Judicial sources informed EFE that the Interior Ministry had authorized entry of one of the young people on Friday evening and the other on Saturday morning, and now both must wait to hear the outcome of their request for protection, which can take up to a year.

One of them is the brother of another Sahrawi activist who has already been granted asylum in Spain and, although he was initially refused entry, the Asylum and Refuge Office of the Ministry of The Interior finally accepted his request for international protection for processing.

This admission for processing, which gives rise to entry to study the application, results in authorization to enter the country, the sources explain. The two young people authorized were part of the group held in one of the asylum rooms at Madrid airport, where this Sunday is scheduled a flight to Marrakech (Morocco) which should transport 21 citizensreported the sources consulted.

Court prevents two more people from staying

The flight is scheduled at the stroke of midnight and two other activists The Sahrawis tried to prevent it by asking the permanent court to urgently paralyze your transfer. However, a Madrid court rejected the request of the two Sahrawi activists. These are two boys who also requested international protection in Spain and provided documents proving their activism.

Judicial sources informed EFE that the service court refused to take into account the precautionary measures requested by two of them, with which they tried to paralyze to the extremetheir expulsion, considering that sufficient evidence has not been provided on the situation of persecution that they denounce in Morocco. This route being rejected, the sources have little doubt that what was planned will come true and their plane will take off at the stroke of midnight for Marrakech.

Last Friday, a letter from the Ombudsman was made public, suggesting that the Interior Ministry authorize the entry into Spain of two Sahrawi women and a minor who are detained at the airport, at the request of the Spanish Commission for Assistance to Refugees (CEAR). The sources consulted believe that the three people whose asylum request was refused and whose request for recognition of their stateless status is in progress are part of the group who should be expelled.

The possible return to Morocco of this second group of Sahrawi citizens is added to that which occurred last Friday, when another plane took off with 16 asylum seekers detained in Barajas after having their requests for international protection rejected. It will not, as one might expect, be the last. Next Thursday, the 10th, there is another flight with the same programmed characteristics. Regarding the first group transferred to Morocco, legal sources consulted by EFE explained that, according to the families of those concerned, two of them were arrested by Moroccan authorities upon their arrival and were interrogated.
