The government authorized the temporary entry into Spain of two Sahrawi activists who were in one of the asylum rooms at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport, who may be in the country while their respective requests for international protection are resolved.
Judicial sources informed EFE that the Interior Ministry had authorized entry of one of the young people on Friday evening and the other on Saturday morning, and now both must wait to hear the outcome of their request for protection, which can take up to a year.
One of them is the brother of another Sahrawi activist who has already been granted asylum in Spain and, although he was initially refused entry, the Asylum and Refuge Office of the Ministry of The Interior finally accepted his request for international protection for processing.
This admission for processing, which gives rise to entry to study the application, results in authorization to enter the country, the sources explain.
