The Spanish government “very clearly and energetically respects what more than 130,000 people said yesterday in the streets of Valencia.” This was stated by the government delegate, Pilar Bernabé, after the Cecopi meeting on the demonstration organized in the capital and during which the majority called for the resignation of the President of the Generalitat Carlos Mazón.
Bernabé added that Valencian society is “torn apart by pain, and we can only listen to them because it is our political and moral obligation, for them and for the tens of thousands of people who suffer.”
Regarding the subsequent incidents and the accusations made by the police, he says that the demonstration “was largely peaceful, where tens of thousands of people expressed their pain.” And the results of the police action were recalled, which resulted in 4 arrests, 13 identified and 31 police officers injured.
Previously, from the Generalitat Valenciana, the popular Carlos Mazón expressed his respect for the “pain” expressed by the thousands of demonstrators and added that he preferred not to qualify the recorded incidents as the term that, in his opinion, “they do not deserve the victims nor the Valencian people.
