Paneque specifies that the current reduction in public transport fares is 50%, which implies 120 million from the Government and an additional 80 million from regional and local administrations.
The Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition and spokesperson for the Generalitat of Catalonia, Silvia Paneque, announced this Wednesday that the proposed statutes for the future operator responsible for managing Cercanías in the community will be ready for the month of January. Furthermore, he indicated that the different lines that will be transferred will also be defined.
In his speech in Parliament, responding to a question from the Commons MP Lluis Mijoler, Paneque assured that the government maintains the planned schedule for the total transfer of Cercanías. “This is the great challenge of our ministry,” he stressed about the transfer, reiterating the commitment of the Generalitat to guarantee that the trains leave on time and provide the reliability they deserve.
Regarding public transport fares, Paneque declared that the Government will adopt “the necessary measures to encourage the use of public transport and ensure that the most vulnerable people, who use it most intensely, receive adequate support,” according to Ep.
The advisor clarified that the current reduction in rates is 50%, which implies an investment of 120 million euros by the government and a further 80 million by regional and local administrations. “Next year we will continue this momentum. “I want to convey a message of tranquility,” he concluded.
