Two Air Force planes are expected to fly to Lebanon tomorrow to launch the evacuation plan for Spanish citizens. This was confirmed on Wednesday by the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, who stressed that these planes and military crews are already ready and waiting for the availability of airspace.
“Two Air Force planes are expected to take off tomorrow to begin the evacuation. Everything is already prepared and at the cost of its realization and the availability of airspace,” the minister said in an interview on Antena 3.
Margarita Robles clarified that there are already 350 Spanish citizens who have asked the embassy to leave the country after this week’s Israeli offensive. Netanyahu’s government has alternated intense air attacks against the country with a ground military operation that is spreading the wave of violence throughout the Middle East.
Robles also recalled that the Spanish soldiers deployed in the country since the 2006 war are part of an international United Nations mission and that, therefore, it is in this forum that the possible withdrawal of troops will be decided.
