The Government of Aragon will grant aid of at least 20 million for the damage caused by DANA in the Community

The DGA will provide aid of at least 20 million euros for damage caused by DANA in Aragon. The Executive of Jorge Azcón approved this Wednesday a decree-law of urgent measures which will also cover the damage recorded between the end of August and the beginning of September due to the storm.

The main conditions They are concentrated in Cuencas Mineras, Matarraña and in the Community of Calatayud.. Last week’s intense rains caused widespread damage to public and private property and infrastructure. This is why the DGA will strive to ensure that the aid “is processed quickly so that it arrives as quickly as possible”.

The orders that must be drawn up by the competent services They will be approved by the Government Council next Wednesday. They will focus on aspects related to budget availability, leaving aside those that require further evaluation. It is expected that the next day they will be published in the Official Gazette of Aragon (BOA) and from that moment on the deadlines will begin to run.

Among the actions there will be subsidies for damage caused to individuals at their homes. Also for damage to agricultural and livestock buildings, industries, businesses and tourist businesses, among others. The idea, summarized by the president of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, is to go where the measures approved by the executive of Pedro Sánchez do not go.

The call will advance money to municipalities so that they can launch a call for tenders for the necessary work and recover their urban centers. Expenses incurred in fighting and recovering from DANA will also be compensated and in the case of business owners there will be non-refundable assistance.

Although it is very difficult to estimate the total amount, Around 2.8 million euros have already been invested in road repairs and it is estimated that 2.2 more will be needed. The same thing happens in Agriculture, which paid 1.8 million and may have to increase its contribution to 2.5.

The DGA’s first approach estimates that its contribution will far exceed 20 million euros, Thus, taking into account the remaining 50% that the central government will contribute, the damage could exceed 40 million.

Furthermore, it must be taken into account that These first figures do not include the recovery costs of municipalities such as Montalbán or Hoz de la Vieja.the final figure could therefore be much higher. “There is still no budget. A few days have passed and in some cases the cleaning work continues,” he noted.

Many problems have also arisen with water catchments, which will need to be repaired as quickly as possible. Regarding state aid, the Aragonese Executive received yesterday a call from the Government Delegation confirming that the Aragonese municipalities will appear in the Royal Decree of the Spanish Government although it did not appear in the first version of the document. In this sense, the commitment is clear: “Everything that the Spanish Government does not collect in terms of repair of goods and services will be assumed by the Government of Aragon, whether public administrations or individuals,” declared the popular leader.
