On September 5, the Government of Armenia approved the Regulation on joint work of commissions for the delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan.
The document states that the ratified provision, as well as the documents expected to be adopted subsequently on its basis, will contribute to the development of the legal bases that will ensure the normal course of delimitation work.
“The regulation also provides for the regulation of procedural issues between the two countries after the subsequent signing (based on the results of the work of the commissions) of an agreement on the state border. The consolidation of the international legal framework of the state border of Armenia is one of the legal guarantees of security, as well as the inviolability of borders and territorial integrity.” – he said in the reasoning for the decision.
The regulation, which was signed by representatives of Baku and Yerevan on August 30, will be reviewed by Armenia’s Constitutional Court, which will decide whether it complies with the country’s fundamental law.
