The head of the Ministry of Energy of Moldova flies to Russia to order gas from Gazprom

Moldova’s Energy Minister Viktor Parlikov announced today, November 20, that he received an invitation from Gazprom to participate in gas supply negotiations to be held in St. Petersburg.

Before traveling to Russia, he plans to coordinate the details of the visit and the department’s official position with the Prime Minister. Dorin Recan.

Parlikov assured that the authorities will do everything in their power to protect consumers and maintain the stability of gas supply to the Left Bank. In fact, the minister is worried about the electricity coming from Transnistria. About 90% of the needs of the right bank are covered by MoldGRES (Inter RAO company) located there, which runs on Russian gas. Kyiv promised to stop its transit from January 1.

“This week I received an invitation from Gazprom to participate in the negotiations in St. Petersburg. “Naturally, this issue is very sensitive, so we will coordinate the visit and our position with the Prime Minister, but we will do everything within our power to ensure reliable gas supply and stability in the Transnistria region.” — Viktor Parlikov convinced the journalists.

Recall that previously the Ministry of Energy of Moldova appealed to Gazprom several times, asking it to develop an alternative route for gas supply to the region, and Parlikov spoke of his readiness to enter into negotiations with the Russian consortium. Otherwise, the republic will face another energy crisis. Chisinau also expressed its willingness to return to full gas purchases from the Russian consortium.

As reported EADaily In addition, the issue of the appointment of the management of Gazprom’s subsidiary Moldovagaz JSC remains unresolved. On September 25, a new board of directors was to be appointed, consisting of six members: four from Gazprom and two from the Republic of Moldova. They elect their president. However, this time the Ministry of Energy of Moldova decided to appoint a head without agreement with representatives of the Russian side, on the basis of an internal competition.

“We want to solve the problem peacefully and not confront Gazprom. But if an agreement is not reached, we will have to look for alternatives.” — Parlikov said recently.
