US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will also not go there due to the cancellation of President Joe Biden’s trip to Germany and Angola, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said.
“The Secretary of State had planned to meet with the President in Germany and Angola, but given this postponement he will return to Washington from Laos,” Miller said at the briefing.
The ASEAN summit was held in Laos and Biden did not attend the event.
Previously, the White House announced that Biden’s trip to Germany and Angola, scheduled for October 10-15, was postponed due to the approach of Hurricane Milton to the United States. Biden said he plans to visit the countries later.
