DANA caused the flooding of many towns on the Mediterranean coast and, in some of them, residents had to live days with the dead. Either because the bodies had not been found, or, as in the case of a resident of Catarroja, because the flooding of his house made it impossible to transport his mother’s body and it risked being carried away by the current. To avoid this situation, He asked a neighbor if he could take the body to his house.
“My mother, the door was broken, the water was washing it and I thought: ‘Mr Martín, please, Will you let me put my mother’s body in there?’, and the man, without thinking, said to me: ‘Now let’s take her out’. and we immediately grabbed my kids and two other neighbors with a blanket and carried her up there,” he said.
