He Cordoba Town Hall It has already approved its budget for 2025 on time (in the absence of the month of public exhibitions) so that it comes into force on January 1st. A subject that has been pending in recent years. The consolidated municipal accounts (parent company and independent companies and organizations) amount to 587 million euros, the highest in history in chapters and with growth of 6.3% compared to 2024.

The PP rejected with Vox two amendments to the whole presented by the PSOE and Hacemos Córdoba while the popular made two partial amendments that are included in the budgetary text related to autonomous organizations and another related to the remuneration of temporary staff of all staff and staff of the City Hall .

The budget was only brought forward with the votes of the PP which holds the absolute majority and with the unanimous negative vote of the opposition: PSOE, Hacemos Córdoba and Vox. All deployed multiple arguments against the accounts. Especially the criticisms of poor execution concerning 2024 which make it “uncredible” for next year or the following. chapter on subsidies, which amount in total to 16.7 million euros for the coming year, a figure higher than that represented by the investments of the parent company (15.7 million).

The main figures of these stories that the first defended in an extraordinary plenary session Deputy Mayor of the Treasury, Blanca Torrentpivot on 37 million euros of total investments: 15.7 from the Town Hall and 21.3 from the rest of public organizations and companies. Of this amount, 22 million will be covered with equity and the rest with financing, which has not happened for many years.

Indeed, as Torrent pointed out in one of his interventions, the debt was reduced by 35%. The social component of the Consistory will cost one euro in four, according to what the Treasury advisor expressed, who accused the opposition of “not having a city project and of stealing the hope of Córdoba” for his critics.

Investing muscle by 2025

It is true that the parent company continues to provide resources and ever more resources to support the public network of entities, organizations and companies. Concretely, 74% more capital transfers, while on the socialist side, its spokesperson, Antonio Hurtadofocused on the situation of Sadeco, Aucorsa and Cecosam that “they are already anticipating losses for 2025”.

Urban planning management and Infrastructure sector They are proposed, once again, as two of the investment lungs for 2025. The first with up to 30 million euros available, divided into 14.7 million investments (46 percent more) compared to 2024; but also with the incorporated and unspent balances from other years: 17.1 million (down almost 15% compared to the previous year). In the case of the Infrastructure Domain, more than 33 million for work in neighborhoods, schools, the launch of Forest plangreen spaces and civic centers.

The investment muscle of Córdoba City Hall is once again focused on green spaces, with Canal, Miralbaida and Chinales Parks or Garden of the Camisanto de los Mártires (or Santos Mártires Street as it is named in these estimates). It is also worth noting the intervention promised in the previous mandate on the Royal Stables, the link between Las Quemadas and the A-4, the actions in Las Ollerías and Gran Vía Parque or at the Pósito de la Corredera, among others. And important contributions to the works of the new logistics sector of La Rinconada and the urbanization of Huerta Santa Isabel Oeste.

Opposition reactions

Antonio Hurtado (PSOE) described some stories of “poor government” and reviewed “the real problems of Córdoba for which there are no answers in these accounts.” He spoke of officially protected rental housing, the filth and lack of complete equipment in all neighborhoods, the waiting lists for social services to assess dependency assistance, the Local neighborhood police or grubbing.

“These are not credible budgets, they are not capable of managing them and they only have budgetary strategies,” Hurtado said, focusing on the volume of subsidies to groups or in figures like 180 million euros “that they have today in the City Hall accounts”; also the outsourcing of services “for those who abound here”, he criticized, or “of the number of staff”. “It’s not a bet on the future, but rather to please those who are already happy.” The socialist spokesperson asked for employment plans for the poorest neighborhoods of Córdoba, which are among those with the fewest resources in Spain, according to the latest data from the INE and the “Audit” study. Urban”.

For her part, the advisor of We do Cordoba Irene Ruizinfluenced these general criticisms of the accounts: “They do not meet the needs of the city and are not credible” and criticized the fact that the report of the Social Council was not taken into account and that the budgetary text was initially approved this consultative document before its arrival. “They don’t execute, they only take photos,” said Ruiz, who stressed that the PP “adapts the projects of previous years and builds on the leftovers that accumulate.”

Distribution of subsidies 2025

From the bench of Vox, its spokesperson Paula Badanelli influenced the low execution of the postponed budget and said that “there is even more work because there is little execution in 2024.” “You don’t repair anything, you only use the rest of the money to pay for your expenses, your parties and your privileges” and he once again accused the PP of a “chavista and sanchista” policy in terms of subsidies despite the fact that “there are more and more taxes and more and more neglect on the streets.”

Regarding the controversy over subsidies or outsourcing, Blanca Torrent recalled that 71% of the volume of aid for 2025 will be in the form of competition and only 29% will be granted directly (around 5 million euros out of a total of 16.7 ). Likewise, he defended “public-private collaboration in favor of companies and groups” to outsource services. The government team will update the 2005 aid ordinance.

“Bread and circuses and little effectiveness,” cried Badanelli in one of his interventions, calling the popular “embarrassed” for having granted aid to pro-life organizations “but ended up giving more to sexual diversity. Badanelli asked for more investment in Casco, El Brillante or Huerta de la Reina, while criticizing “the increase in squatters or the presence of rats in points like Cross accountthe Alcázar or Las Moreras.
