Armenia’s new territorial claims against Azerbaijan have caused the conflict and war situation in the region to remain in an active phase.
As a result of new provocations, fierce fighting began in Karabakh on the night of April 1-2, 2016.
It is also worth noting that the April fighting was the largest military conflict on the line of contact since the signing of the ceasefire agreement in 1994.
During the Patriotic War, which lasted 44 days, the sound of unmanned aerial vehicles was heard for the first time in those battles, which made the friend proud and the enemy feared and accurately neutralized military targets. In the same battles, by one means or another, the greater capacity of our army was demonstrated.
In that 4-day conflict, our Armed Forces made history with their retaliatory measures to prevent the other side from expanding its military activity. At that time the spirit of our army was also in place, challenging the enemy.
Thus, in the four-day war, which has gone down in our recent history as the April battles, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan won victory in the hills around the Talish village of Tartar district, Lalatape hill of the district of Jabrayil and Jojug Marjanli village, Gulustan villages of Goranboy district and Sugovushan of Tartar district were liberated from the enemy.
At that time, a total of 2,000 hectares of land were freed from occupation. However, Armenia did not correctly analyze the April battles. This country continued to insist on prolonging the peace talks and imitating them. The lack of pressure on Yerevan from international organizations and the demonstration of support aimed at further exacerbating the conflict allowed the continuation of the occupation policy of the criminal junta regime. Irrational actions of the enemy led to the start of fighting in the territories of the Tovuz region starting in July 2020. However, all attempts by the Armenian side failed. Azerbaijan protected its state border and Armenian soldiers could not cross into Azerbaijani land.
During the Tovuz battles, actions in support of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces were carried out on the streets and avenues of Baku, as well as in our cities and regions. A large number of young Azerbaijanis applied to join the units of the State Mobilization and Conscription Service to enlist in the army. During this time, in parallel, the transportation of military material to Armenia intensified. The situation was a sign of the upcoming 44-day Patriotic War.
In general, victory in battles was a great incentive for the Second Karabakh War.
