British scientists have written the human genome on a highly resistant glass to save humanity from extinction in the future.
Oku.AzAccording to kp.ru, this memory crystal is called 5D because the information is encoded using three spatial coordinate parameters and two optical parameters.
This media is said to be able to store data for billions of years and there is no risk of data loss even under extreme storage conditions.
In addition, 5D glass can withstand temperatures of up to 1000 degrees Celsius, cosmic radiation and direct impacts.
The 5D crystal is stored in the “Memory of Humanity” archive in a salt cave in Austria, the researchers said.
It is worth noting that in 2014, 5D glass invented by researchers at the University of Southampton was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the most durable information storage material.
