The increase in rent increases unpaid debts and quadruples evictions for non-payment of mortgages

The relentless increase in rental prices across Spain is wreaking havoc on tenants’ economies. This has brought people from all over the world to take to the streets to protest against prices and to claim the right to have a decent and affordable housing. Likewise, they are asking to impose a 50% price reduction, while encouraging a rent strike through which they seek in a coordinated manner not to pay rents.

In areas like MadridMore precisely, in the Pilar district, ten years ago it cost 800 euros to rent a house, but today the same house would cost 1,200 euros, i.e. became more expensive by 400 euros.

Malaga It is another city which suffers the ravages of rent prices, since, as we can see, a house in the center Before we could rent it for less than €600 now and now it’s around 900 euros, so they have become 300 euros more expensive.

A similar situation exists in Barcelonawhere apartments of barely 32 square meters, with a bedroom and a bathroom, for 750 euros. The fact that it is in the Gracia neighborhood does not justify that a house with these characteristics has increased its price by 200 euros in recent years.

This constant rise in housing prices results in a greater number of non-payment of rent, which quadruples the number of evictions for non-payment of mortgages.
