The insurance of the two speleologists rescued in Cantabria in June must pay a fee of 3,875 euros

As indicated by the government, the General Directorate of Security and Protection of Citizens has imposed fees totaling 3,875 eurosdue to the mobilization of the caving team and the duration of the intervention (35 hours and 10 minutes).

The Executive proceeded to the liquidation of the said buyback rate to the insurance companygiven that the cavers had an insurance policy that covered the alleged purpose of the fees.

In response to this tax regulation, notified to the persons concerned on August 28, an administrative and economic claim may be filed, addressed to the General Directorate of Security and Protection of Citizens of the Cantabrian Government, within one month from the day following the notification, as well as, where appropriate, an optional appeal for review before this same body.

The rescue of the two Castilian-Leonese speleologists took place between June 23 and 25 in the cave called Garma Ciega-Sima del Sombrero, in the municipality of Soba.

A total of 125 soldiers from all administrations39 on the first day and 86 on the second, with 11 vehicles on the first day and 16 on the second, plus two helicopters and drones from the Cantabrian Government participated in the rescue of the two speleologists.

They began the crossing of the Garmaciega-Sima del Sombreo on Saturday, June 22 at 12:00. As the estimated departure time was not respected, a relative informed the emergency care center 112 of Cantabria on Sunday, June 23 at 7:15 in the morning and the caving rescue protocol was activated.

By virtue of this, the Executive has applied the third rate provided by law for the speleosocorro service provided, which sets for the mobilization of the team, up to the first six hours, an amount of 569.97 euros, as well as for each additional hour of intervention, until the end of it, of 113.99 euros per hour.
