The Japanese embassy in Moscow has simplified the issuance of tourist visas.

The Japanese Embassy in Moscow has simplified the procedure for applying for a tourist visa for Russians. On the diplomatic mission’s website, confirmation of a paid hotel reservation was missing from the list of documents required to obtain a single-entry tourist visa.

Currently, to obtain such a visa, Russians must fill out a visa application form, present a foreign passport, a copy of their internal passport, as well as documents confirming employment and the ability to pay for the trip.

It is also necessary to present a program of stay in Japan, documents confirming the reservation of air tickets and a power of attorney (if presented through a power of attorney).

At the same time, the requirement to provide a paid hotel reservation persists on the website of the Consulate General of Japan in St. Petersburg, RBC clarifies.
