The judge names Sánchez’s brother as a defendant but finds that he does not have the 1.4 million shares attributed to him

The president of the Court of Instruction number 3 of Badajoz, Beatriz Biedma, decided to summon David Sánchez Pérez Castejón, brother of the president of the government Pedro Sánchez, as accused.

This decision is taken after analyzing the content of the UCO report of the Civil Guard, from which follows “the existence of rational indicators of criminality linked to the crimes against the public administration investigated”.

The file is opened for crimes against the Public Administration, the Public Treasury, embezzlement, prevarication and influence peddling and is directed against the president of the Foral Delegation of Badajoz, Miguel Ángel Gallardo, the brother of Sánchez and the head of the Human Resources Inspectorate, Alejandro. Guijarro.

However, the judge notes that once analyzed the asset declarations presented to the Provincial Council, no proof was found that the person indicted owns a certain number of BBVA shares which reach a value of 1.4 million dinars. euros.

Thus, the UCO explains that this would be an erroneous calculation motivated by the fact that in the declarations relating to the years 2017, 2019 and 2021 in the “nominal value” field, the unit of measurement is reflected in euros and in 2022 and 2023, this unit is not specified, we would therefore have interpreted that it is the number of shares and not their value in euros.

An error that the judge now wishes to clarify. To this end, it indicates in the order that it is necessary to request from BBVA a report on the nominal value of the shares held in said bank in the name of David Sánchez Pérez Castejón in November 2017, November 2019, December 2021, November 2022 . and June 2023. .
