The Court of Instruction number 4 of Illescas (Toledo) agreed to open a preliminary procedure for the complaint against the former mayor of the PP of Recas, Laura Fernández Díaz, for a alleged crime of embezzlement linked to bonuses granted to two relatives of Gabriela Zamorano, advisor to her municipal team.
The complaint against the former PP mayor was filed by the town hall of Recas, governed by the Socialist Party, and among the procedures initiated by the judge is the summons of Laura Fernández herself to make a statement this Friday, November 15.
The events date back to 2018, when the former PP mayor issued a decree that canceled capital gains tax tax settlements to two local taxpayers, which allegedly constituted an act of favored treatment or privileged for those who were close to the advisor. his government team, Gabriela Zamorano.
A decree issued by Laura Fernández and written, presumably, adapted to grant a tax credit that the beneficiary taxpayers had not even requested.
More specifically, it was agreed to unduly return the tax contributions in one of the cases and to cancel two final tax settlements which had in no case been the subject of an appeal by the beneficiaries, thus dispensing collecting public resources from two direct relatives of his colleague in the municipal government.
In the complaint filed by the Town Hall of Recas, the former mayor of Recas from 2015 to 2019 is accused of having issued an unusual and unprecedented decree in the municipality, being the first and only time where a municipal resolution like the one described is recorded. In addition, it would have been approved without a report or opinion from the secretary-controller of the Recas town hall.
All of this can constitute a alleged offense of embezzlement of public funds for which the court opened the present preliminary proceedings.
