“Today, the main issue in solving the global climate problem is the determination of climate financing goals and mechanisms.”
This was stated by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Nisanbayev, in his statement to the “Report”.
“The main issue we need to find a common solution is climate finance. Without serious financial support, all our measures to reduce emissions lose their effectiveness,” he said.
According to the Minister, many developing countries have already committed to reducing emissions, including Kazakhstan, which committed to reducing methane emissions last year: “However, despite some progress in financing, their amount remains insufficient”.
The Minister expressed his hope that final decisions on this issue will be made at the end of the COP29 conference: “Because without financial mechanisms, all promises risk remaining only on paper. This is the cornerstone, without it everything what we say and The plan is declarative.”
According to him, the problem of climate change cannot be solved at the level of one country or region, which is why it requires joint action by all countries.
“It is necessary to synchronize the activities of all States. Only then can we achieve the desired result. Otherwise, gradual measures are doomed to failure,” he added.
Y. Nisanbayev highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s willingness to host COP29, noting that the event was organized at the highest level in a short period of time.
