He Pamplona City Hall reported to the Municipal police “intentional damage” suffered in the exhibition of urban artist LKN and “the theft” of one of the exhibited works. The Town Hall inaugurated the exhibition last Monday, October 28, on Avenue Carlos III. Two days later, on October 30, several of the works on display have been vandalized. The exhibition, titled “Pray for me” and will remain on display until November 24brings together fifteen of the most representative works that this urban artist has produced over the last five years. The vandalized works are those which represent public figures from the world of sport, politics or culture with religious appearance.
This is the case of ‘Santo Roberto’, a work that depicts Osasuna player Roberto Torresimmortalized under the name of Jesus Christ “Salvator Mundi”, with a balloon in his hand, or the work “The Queen of Pop”, in which the singer Amaia Montero appears as the Queen of the Virgin Mary; In addition to the work that depicts former Osasuna coach Enrique Martín as a priestamong others. Added to all this is the theft of one of the works in which the artist represented Real Madrid player Vinicius. The barricaded structures have already been cleaned. The municipal proposal of bringing LKN art to the streets responds to a defense of freedom of expressionin addition to the urban character of his work. It is not for nothing that the artist saw, in March, one of his exhibitions in a private exhibition space in Pamplona canceled due to criticism from certain sectors of society.
Given these facts, the municipal council unanimously approved a declaration of support for the artist and urban art and free cultural expression. In this declaration, it was agreed to allocate municipal resources for the organization of an urban art exhibition in a city location, which gave birth to the exhibition “Pray for me”.
