The local cooperation fund increases by 6.3% in the Galician budgets 2025 to reach 168 million

Local cooperation fund increases 6.3% in the budget project of the Xunta for next year, until reaching 168 million euros, according to data provided by the municipal councilor of Facenda, Miguel Corgos.

During a meeting with the president of Fegamp within the permanent subcommittee on the economic and financial regime, Corgos clarified that this increase translates into 10 million euros more for this fund.

Among them, around 4 million will go to municipal settlements and almost 6 to installments, according to their figures. The latter will go to the basic fund – one of the two which make up the local cooperation fund -, but for the municipalities of less than 15,000 inhabitants.

He Increase of 6.3% This is a figure “much higher than the average of non-financial expenses which will increase if we take into account the figures of the expenditure ceiling”, as the head of Facenda pointed out.

In addition, he indicated that the Xunta also guarantees a reserve of an additional amount to cover the increase in taxes of the garbage collection fees from Sogama.

“We have proposed, taking into account their demands, they have always asked that the basic fund – the Fegamp – be increased, that they increase contributions, deposits, everything, to the basic fundwith the criteria of the basic fund, but intended for municipalities which have less solvency and more difficulties in this context of increasing costs”, explained the councilor.

Home help service

Facenda will now send this proposal in writing to the Galician federation of municipalities and provinces to know its evaluation. Additionally, the ministry reported that Items will be collected and financing will be renegotiated of the home help service (SAF), “but outside” the local cooperation fund. In this section, the Xunta hopes that the central government “makes its contribution in proportional terms, as corresponds to the dependency law”, he said.

Miguel Corgos explained that since the Xunta “wants to concentrate” the increase in the basic fund in municipalities with less than 15,000 inhabitants, which are almost 60% of Galician municipalitiesfor them “their deposit would increase by almost 8% compared to last year” in this fund.

For his part, the president of Fegamp, Alberto Varela, said that he was waiting for “written information”, because during the meeting there was talk of “the intention to stand up”, he said.

The leader of Fegamp will analyze it this Tuesday, once she has a document, but after the meeting with Facenda Varela she marked her position as “always”. to defend an increase in the basic fund for local cooperation, the money that reaches the 313 municipalities.
