The Lord’s Coronation shines recently restored by Christ the King in Cordoba

In the midst of great expectation to see his appearance, Our Humble Father Jesus at the Crowning with Thorns shone this Saturday on the eve of Christ the King.

In the Plaza del Cristo de Gracia, a crowd waited to see him lowered slowly on a stretcher from the door of the Church of the Trinitarios to the railing as night fell in the sky.

His suffering figure passed in the darkness in front of two lampposts tinted red, in memory of the persecuted Christians, just as the flowers adorning the stretchers were red.

Kodaly’s “Stabat Mater” performed by the Crowning with Thorns Group received the image which shows its polychromy with all the richness of contrasts with which Francisco Buiza designed it, after the restoration and cleaning work which lasted six months in the workshop of Ana Infante de la Torre.

After a prolonged wait of six months, the long yard brothers who preceded him with their candles lit the way back to his temple, San Antonio de Padua, full of emotion to see him so close again.

The suffering look of the Lord, his powerful anatomy, the modeling, all his details and the streaks of blood on his body resembled forever in the middle of November night. At that time, the marches “Eucharistía” and “Soledad de San Pablo” were being played.

Through the Ronda del Marrubial, the stretcher, carried by the band of the Lord, adopted a faster rhythm, the one that usually characterizes it every Holy Monday.

Previously, inside the temple of the Fathers of Gracia, the Lord remained face to face with the Christ of Grace and the Saved, and the brotherhood of La Merced thanked the warm welcome given to him by the Trinitarians and these two brotherhoods.

Those who wish to pray even more attentively to the Crowning Lord and get lost in details who leaves the restoration have the solemn function in their honor on Sunday, at noon in the morning, and the subsequent extraordinary veneration at their seat until noon.

The intervention on the image, the first in almost half a century of existence, made it possible to eliminate dust and superficial dirt, to consolidate the polychromy, to eliminate blackened areas by the passage of time and worship, and the basis has also been strengthened for the good submission of the Lord.
