Luis Ortiz, who was the husband of Gunilla Von Bismarck, died in Marbella at the age of 80, from a cancer he had been suffering from for a long time and was undergoing dialysis sessions. A joker, always with a comment and ready for one last dance. For years, Ortiz was the one who made the Marbella jet set smile.
He was part of a group of friends called “Los Chorys”. Rascals who did not hesitate to mingle with the high-born, captivating them and making them smile at the party nights, which in the 70s and 80s were numerous. Disguises, pranks and love for Gunilla, a rich German aristocratic heiress, made him a symbol of the old “jet set”.
One of those nights he met Gunilla von Bismarkwho would first become his wife, then his ex-wife, even though they never stopped living together and appearing at the now declining parties organized by the “jet”.
Despite their separation, he always lived with the German aristocrat, with whom he maintained an extraordinary non-marital relationship. They both had a son, Francois44 years old.
Ortiz’s last appearance with Gunilla von Bismarck took place during the 70th anniversary celebrations of the Marbella Club last April.
