The Lucena Olivarera Cooperative celebrates 75 years as a reference in the sector throughout the south of Córdoba

THE Olive cooperative de Lucena celebrated its 75th founding anniversary this Friday with a massive event at its facilities on Avenida de la Infancia, in which its partners were the main protagonists. The event took place in the presence of the mayors of Lucena and Monturque, Aurélio Fernández And Antonio Castrothe delegate of Agriculture of Cordoba Francisco Acosta and the president of Almazaras de la Subbética, Francisco Serrano, among other authorities, who accompanied the members of the cooperative on this special day.

In his speech, the president of the cooperative, Francisco de Mora, highlighted the long journey since its founding on November 20, 1949, when “a group of 37 visionaries laid the foundations of what is today an entity with more than 3,100 members and collaborating partners.

During the event, the importance of the cooperative as a provincial reference in the production of extra virgin olive oil and olive vinaigrette was recognized. The President highlighted the vision of the Board of Governors, which 25 years ago understood the importance of offering additional services to its partners, beyond the grinding of olives.

Today, the cooperative is a pillar of support for farmers, relieving them of administrative constraints and offering them the resources necessary for the development of their agricultural activities.

In addition to paying tribute to the founders, veteran members were recognized, some with more than 50 years of commitment, and three centenary members who, even during the 2023-2024 campaign, delivered olives.

The president highlighted the collaboration with Almazaras de la Subbética, one of the most important players in the sector, of which the Lucentina cooperative has been a member for several years, and which has played a key role in the commitment of direct marketing of the highest quality oils produced by the cooperative, with fourteen national and international awards obtained thanks to its brand Lucentine over the last two years.
