La Moncloa and the Madrid Parliament worked together to strengthen security
The security service of La Moncloa contacted that of Madrid Assembly as soon as Begoña Gómez personally received the summons to appear before the commission of inquiry this Wednesday. In Parliament, where surveillance is carried out by the Civil Guard, security will be reinforced inside the parliamentary offices, while the Government Delegation will take care of the exterior, all in coordination with La Moncloa.
Police sources predict that at least between 40 and 50 riot police will be deployed for this day, an “excessive” number, the officers themselves acknowledge.
Yesterday in the Madrid Chamber it was assumed that Begoña Gómez would enter the Assembly through the garage, for security reasons, which is common in the case of relevant appearances. Everything is prepared for this access, which would also avoid encounters with possible demonstrators who gather outside the hemicycle.
The appearance will take place in the committee room named “Caserón de San Bernardo”. The media will be able to follow the development of the situation in an adjacent room. Although the media will not be allowed to enter the room during the committee, the image and sound will be broadcast live on the internal circuit and can be followed via the Assembly website.
The appearances are limited in time: in total, they must not last more than 80 minutes each. However, in the case of Begoña Gómez this could be considerably reduced, given the possibility that she chooses not to answer questions from the spokespersons of the parliamentary groups.
