The criminal trial against Tural Safarov (last name withheld), accused of torturing his ex-wife, has concluded in the Absheron District Court.
Pravda.az reports that the sentence was read in the trial presided over by Judge Abuset Gasimov.
According to the court verdict, Tural Safarov was sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in prison.
According to the indictment, on November 25, 2023, at 11:20 a.m., Tural Safarov attacked his wife, the victim Maya Mammadova (on parole), bit her arm, grabbed her hair and threw her to the ground because to a disagreement between them on the basis of their family relationships. He then punched and kicked the woman in the face, head and various parts of her body.
The defendant continued his violent actions for some time after the incident and beat his wife in their apartment, causing her severe physical pain and mental suffering.
Maya divorced Tural on January 10, 2024 in the Absheron District Court and her youngest daughter was taken into her custody.
On February 14, 2024, a dispute arose between Tural Safarov and his ex-wife Maya in one of the residential complexes located in Khirdalan, Absheron region. At that moment, Tural intentionally hit the victim’s left leg and other areas with his heel, causing injuries that did not harm his health. Furthermore, on March 1, 2024, around 8:00 p.m., the defendant sat in the front right seat of the car driven by the victim in front of the apartment where the woman lived. During the next jealousy-induced fight inside the car, in front of the eyes of his young daughters who were sitting in the back seat of the car, he deliberately grabbed Maya by the mouth and then by the neck and squeezed her tightly. , causing minor damage to his health that caused a short-term deterioration of his health.
After the incident, Maya Mammadova complained about her ex-husband and Tural was detained and placed under arrest.
