The Marea Blanca platform begins its mobilizations against Andalusian health management in Cádiz

The Marea Blanca platform started its weekend in Cádiz on Saturday mobilizations against the health management of the Andalusian governmentwhich will continue on Sunday in the other seven capitals. These calls have the support of opposition groups.

According to the Marea Blanca manifesto, the platform demands that “the current crisis is resolved through a reasonable increase in spending to strengthen the primary care workforce and put into service the capacities of public hospitals, currently unexploited. An expense that the platform highlighted as “lower than the additional costs that are given each year to private health care”. In addition, “the waiting list for the most requested specialties can be resolved by opening an afternoon shift with new staff in twenty Andalusian hospitals”, they add.

The manifesto states that “the average time for a Primary Care appointment exceeds fifteen days and professionals are precarious, bureaucratized and incapable of carrying out their functions. Likewise, delays in tests, consultations with specialists and surgical treatments “currently affect more than a million Andalusians”.

In this sense, the platform designated the Andalusian Government as “responsible for worsen the situation through the stagnation of public centers and the diversion of funds to private medicine, as it sends patients to centers of unproven quality and charges additional costs.

Opposition support for mobilizations

The mobilizations benefit from the support of left-wing groups in the parliamentary opposition. Thus, the PSOE deputy, María Ángeles Prieto, called for participation in the mobilizations: “Public health has saved our lives time and time again and now it needs us to save it. because they destroy and dismantle it. “They are leaving public health without resources and diverting it to private health.”

The spokesperson for Por Andalucía in the Andalusian Parliament, Inma Nieto, attended the demonstration in Cádiz from where she denounced The government of Juanma Moreno “only seeks to guarantee the private health care sector” while the public system deteriorates.
