To everyone’s surprise, Brigitte Fouré, mayor (Union of Democrats and Independents, UDI) of the city of Amiens (Somme) since 2014, announced, on Monday, October 7, that she was ending her mandate to hand over to Hubert de Jenlis, his first deputy.
“I will soon be 70 years old and it is time to pass the baton to a new generation, full of the same passion that I have always felt for Amiens”explains M.me Furé in a press release.
“I have decided to entrust the future of our city to Hubert de Jenlis” AND “Therefore, I will propose your name to an extraordinary municipal council that will meet very soon to confirm this decision.”he added, although his decision comes less than two years before the municipal elections.

Brigitte Fouré said she would remain a municipal councilor, 2my vice president of the metropolis of Amiens and first vice president of the Hauts-de-France region.
A municipal councilor since 1989, she had already been mayor of the capital of Picardy from 2002 to 2007, when the current Gilles de Robien was minister. She was also a European deputy in 2008-2009.
Hubert de Jenlis, 56, has been an insurance agent for 28 years in Amiens, where he is originally from. Candidate in the legislative elections, he entered politics by joining the Radical Party in 2006 and then participated in the creation of the UDI in 2012. In 2018, he left the UDI to join La République en Marche, the party created by Emmanuel Macron before. the 2017 presidential elections.
