The plenary session of Madrid City Hall this Tuesday was dominated by accusations between the groups with moments of tension and by the PP’s accusation against the PSOE spokesperson, Reyes Maroto, who allegedly declared that the mayor had “a clown’s face”.
The Plenary began marked by the accusations against the former deputy Íñigo Errejón, who forced, even if it was not on the agenda, a crossing of accusations from Más Madrid and the PSOE, against the mayor José Luis Martinez-Almeida.
In this context, the popular accused Maroto of having said: “The mayor’s clown face.” The events allegedly occurred when the secretary of the Plenary was reading the presentation of an item, the president of the Plenary, Borja Fanjul, repeatedly asked the councilors for silence and called to order the popular councilor Carlos Segura . “Shut up,” Fanjul even said to one of the advisors.
At that moment, the popular bench stood up, looking towards the socialists, located opposite, in the middle of a hubbub. “I cannot tolerate that Ms. Maroto has the clown face of the mayor,” said Almeida, who apologized to the socialist spokesperson.
Fanjul tried to control the moment and claimed not to have heard what Maroto had said, to which Almeida replied: “We heard him pointing at me and saying what a clown face the mayor has, I limit myself to ask Maroto to let him rectify it”. “.
When asked if the spokesperson would apologize, she replied “asking the mayor to rectify” that she was “full of corruption.” Fanjul insisted on the question of whether Maroto would apologize “for the insult” addressed to the mayor, on which the socialist remained silent.
