The “Mercedes EQS” will be replaced by the electric version “S-Class”

Mercedes-Benz is planning radical changes to its flagship line. In the near future, the existing electric EQS will be replaced by a new “S-Class” version, which will be equipped with both internal combustion engines and fully electric drive systems. Future gasoline and electric versions of the S-Class will be based on different platforms, although they will be very similar in appearance and interior.

Oku.Az reports on this with reference to 32cars.

The electric S-Class will be based on the new MB.EA Large architecture, while the petrol version will remain on the updated MB MRA platform. These platform differences mean that the models, while similar in design, will have different proportions and features. In particular, the electric version will be able to offer a more spacious cabin thanks to a better use of interior space.

Despite plans to replace the EQS, its current generation will need to be updated by 2025, which will include an upgrade to an 800-volt architecture, significantly speeding up charging times. However, by 2030, both versions of Mercedes’ flagship sedan will be replaced by a single model that will combine the best features of both gasoline and electric vehicles.
