The heads of state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will discuss the military-political situation and consider various documents at the Astana summit. This was stated in an interview with TASS by the Secretary General of the CSTO, Imangali Tasmagambetov.
According to him, in the period since the last meeting of the leaders of the CSTO member states, many issues have accumulated that require detailed discussion.
“First of all, an exchange of opinions on the political-military situation in the collective security regions and on their borders is planned. “The leaders of our countries will evaluate the results of joint work over the past period and chart directions for future cooperation.” – said Tasmagambetov.
He noted that among the documents submitted for consideration by the Collective Security Council, it is especially worth mentioning the draft specific interstate program of the CSTO to strengthen the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
The Secretary General added that sources of serious challenges and threats to collective security persist in Afghanistan.
“The proposed package of measures is designed to provide CSTO member states with a significantly higher level of protection against them,” – he said about this.
In addition, according to the Secretary General’s words, the summit will pay special attention to the issues of preparation for the joint celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
“The Kyrgyz Republic is also scheduled to report on the priorities of its presidency of the organization in 2025,” – he concluded.
