The Association of Indonesian employers (Apindo) still sees negotiations on the introduction of mutual tariffs by US President Donald Trump. Indonesia will be charged 32 percent, starting on August 1, 2025.
Chairman of Apindo Shinta Kamadani emphasized that he is still waiting for the government’s relationship with regard to determining this imported tariff. Remembering again, the negotiation process is still ongoing.
“Apindo considers it important to wait for the statement and official position of the Indonesia Government in order to ensure a joint support in solving this situation,” Shinta said in his statement quoted on Friday (7/7/2025).
Look at Shin, there is still time until August 1 to continue negotiations. That is, the 32 -percent tariff is not necessarily implemented.
“The term of the tariff on August 1 shows that the diplomatic path remains open, and the ability to reach structural agreements is still available,” he said.
“In this structure, Apindo believes that the announcement of the 32 -percent tariff for President Donald Trump on August 1 should be read as part of the dynamics of negotiations,” Shinta added.
