The Ministry of Natural Resources announced Russia’s share of the world’s nickel reserves.

According to official data from the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, the country holds 21.5% of the world’s nickel reserves. Russia also contains 7.9% of the world’s uranium and 14.5% of the world’s titanium reserves. This information was provided today, September 12, by TASS.

Previously EADaily reported that the Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the government to consider limiting the export of nickel, uranium and titanium, as strategically important resources.

The state currently possesses 705,000 tonnes of uranium, as well as 580.3 million tonnes of titanium and 28.3 million tonnes of nickel.

“Today, the greatest potential for identifying new deposits is in the Far East and Siberia, where only 35% and 45% of the area has been explored, respectively,” — the department clarified.

The Ministry of Natural Resources also described the prospects for discovering new deposits of these rare minerals as very high. This is especially true in the Far East and Siberia, where not only large but also unique deposits are found.
