He Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility announced this Tuesday that the work to allow the temporary diversion on the AP-66 has already been completed and it is expected that the concessionaire will open the highway in both directions of traffic on Wednesday at 8 p.m., barring serious obstacles.

Throughout the morning, operators should carry out the final finishing touches to the dynamic network. On the ground, a 270 meter long detour was made to allow access to a descent route to Asturias and two ascent routes to León. The two are separated by a rigid New Jersey-style concrete barrier and are wider than normal (around four meters each) to allow snow plows to pass through.

On both banks, metal barrier type barriers have been placed with high visibility reflectors for marking. They were also installed 100 meters of dynamic barrier of 9,000 KJ, which is the largest model installed in Spain, with eight meter high poles and the maximum possible energy capacity. The objective of the dynamic barrier is to protect vehicles and the detour from possible landslides during clearing work.

In order to develop the three diversion lanes, as well as the dynamic barrier and its work protection device, it was necessary to carry out snow removal which required the use of explosives and mechanical means.

The work aimed at allowing the temporary detour and resolving the detachment is carried out by the road concessionaire, within the framework of its responsibilities and the work of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility is to control and ensure its proper development.
