“The most DANA’s intense attacks against Catalonia are over and we are no longer on alert”, underlined this Monday afternoon the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa. Of course, he warned that the pre-warning for rain persisted, which is why he called for “caution”. All this, after specifying that the Rodalies service has been restored and that no roads are closed due to the heavy rains of the morning.
The “president” also announced three measures which will be approved tomorrow, after the Executive Council meeting. The first concerned the approval of aid to all Catalan municipalities affected by DANA. The second, the review of the Civil Protection plan so that it is “current and updated” in the face of this type of bad weather and, finally, the revision of flood zones in Catalonia. “It will be a hierarchical review of the cases that give rise to the most concern,” he noted, without detailing any specific area.
During these days, the Government, in addition to ask citizens to be carefulrestricted mobility in nine regions of Tarragona, between last midnight and 2:00 p.m. this Monday, and classes also canceled, due to the risk of torrential rain. From Civil Protection, geolocated alerts were sent to cell phones when precipitation was heavier in certain areas to avoid incidents.
The cold weather caused a few incidents, but we must regret the victims. This is why Illa attacks the behavior of the majority of citizens, as well as emergency personnel.
