With the waist-deep in water and stuck in their house. That’s how they were Maria Rosa and Eugenioan elderly couple, the last afternoon of Tuesday October 29 when DANA was wreaking havoc in Valencia and other autonomous communities. It was his cries that alerted a group of the Civil Guard, thanks to whom today they can tell the story.
The couple watched the water rise and rise without being able to do anything. “Water was entering through the patio and, in an instant, it was already reaching us here”, says María Rosa, pointing to her chest. The furniture of her house was also floating inside her house. When they tried to open the door between the two of them, they realized they couldn’t. It was impossible because of the force of the water.
It was then that a Civil Guard team, alerted by the screams, was able to access the wall of the patio of the house, which was completely flooded, and save the couple. The agents, seeing the complicated situation in which they found themselves, They did not hesitate to reach inside the house and take them out. to bring them to safety in the barracks.
Thanks to this gesture, Rosa Maria and Eugenio, they can say it; and they couldn’t be more grateful to their rescuers. That’s why, this Saturday, more than a week after the disaster, they returned to thank those who rescued them, as you can see in this video.
