remember that On March 3, 2009, Munevvar Karabulut, a high school student, was murdered by her boyfriend, Cem Garipoglu, by cutting her throat in their villa in Bahçeşehir.. The dismembered body of 17-year-old Karabulut was stuffed into a guitar case and thrown into a garbage container in the Etiler district. The girl’s body was found by a garbage collector.

Cem Garipoglu, who brutally murdered Munevvar Karabulut, committed suicide in the Silivri prison where he was held in 2014.

However, in the last 10 years many accusations have been made about his death, one of which was the possibility that Garipoglu is not dead and that another body may be buried in the grave. For this reason it was decided to open Garipoglu’s tomb. The skull, other bones and teeth taken from the grave were examined.

“After investigations carried out by specialists from the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution, DNA examinations were carried out with high precision on bones, teeth and all other samples at the Biology Specialization Department. As a result of the procedures , it was confirmed that The samples taken from the grave belong to Cem Garipoglu, the common son of father Mehmet Nida and mother Tülay Makbule, and it was also clear that the person has the same DNA profile as the person who committed suicide after the autopsy carried out in 2014.” said the Silivri Prosecutor’s Office.
