At the Aguttes auction, one of the most famous cars made for the Paris-Dakar rally will be put up for sale: the Rolls-Royce Corniche, also known as the Jules.
Oku.Az auto.ru writes about this.
The car, designed for the 1981 race and having almost nothing in common with the original Rolls-Royce, is expected to sell for between €400,000 and €800,000.
A 5.7-liter V8 from “General Motors” is placed in the engine compartment of the car, the body panels are made of plastic glass. Only the windows, bumpers and radiator grille are identical to the original Rolls-Royce.
The car was named “Jules” in honor of one of the fragrances of the Christian Dior fashion house, which sponsored the project. The prototype could not win any title at the Dakar due to an accident. Its restoration cost 150,000 euros.
