The National Court summons the former number two of the Interior of the PP and former police officials for the alleged investigation into Podemos

The judge of the National Court (AN) Santiago Pedraz cited as investigated for whom Francisco Martínez was Secretary of State for Security of the PPto former Deputy Operational Director of the National Police Eugenio Pino and several former police officials for the so-called prospective investigations unrelated to judicial control that were allegedly carried out into various Podemos accusations.

By order, the president of the Central Investigating Court number 5 summons Martínez to be investigated on October 28 at 10:15 a.m. On the same day, the instructor summoned the former head of the Central Operational Support Unit (UCAO) of the police to court as the accused. Enrique Garcia Castaño.

Already on October 29, Judge Pedraz will take statements from Pino and the police inspector starting at 10:15 a.m. Jose Angel Fuentes Gago. The round of depositions will end on November 6 at the same time, when the magistrate will question the commissioner Andres Gomez Gordo and the former head of police information German Rodríguez Castiñeira.

In his resolution, the magistrate also gives the green light to “the practice of the testimonies requested by Podemos for clarification of the facts. However, he specifies that they remain waiting to be indicated depending on the availability of the judicial calendar.

Podemos’ complaint

Podemos filed a complaint for crimes of criminal organization, seizure and disclosure of secretsadministrative procrastination and documentary falsifications. He was also presented for embezzlement and for crimes against state institutions, although the magistrate rejected the latter two, because the two types of crimes could not be included in the reported events.

In his writing, Podemos assured that the accused – under the supposed leadership of the Secretary of State for Security at the time – “were responsible for carrying out prospective investigations unrelated to police interestsoutside the control of the courts or the public prosecutor, on the people who made up the political organization.

In addition, the training showed that Martínez periodically reported to Fernández Díaz, taking advantage of his status as a public authority and with the collaboration of police agents.

Eight specific actions

The main objective, according to the party, was to subsequent leak to media under the seal of the reliability of “police sources” to discredit the formation in the eyes of public opinion, thus attacking the compensation of its deputies and other public agents.
