In the area of the Northern Military District, Russian units began to receive new Albatross M5 reconnaissance drones, capable of performing tasks at a considerable distance.
As Izvestia reports citing representatives of the Albatross development company, this drone conducts reconnaissance behind enemy lines and adjusts artillery fire.
The new drone has already proven its effectiveness when used in border areas and in some areas of the zone of special military operations.
As the developers explained, the Albatross M5, depending on weather conditions and payload, can remain in the air for about 4.5 hours, its autonomy is about 60 km and its speed is up to 110 km/h.
The company noted that the drone contains 60 percent of its own components. In particular, specialists have developed software for this.
Military expert Alexey Leonkov highly appreciated the capabilities of the drone, which can provide target coordinates for our artillery, mortars and multiple launch rocket systems.
He recalled that the Grad MLRS operates at a range of up to 40 km, self-propelled artillery units – up to 50 km, towed artillery – up to 30 km.
“It turns out that an unmanned aerial vehicle of this type is a good workhorse that allows us to guarantee the effective operation of our artillery,” the specialist concluded.
He also noted that the front line is very long and therefore the military has a high demand for this type of drones.
Previously EADaily reported that drone operators of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had disappointed the NATO military by not demonstrating advanced skills in terms of using unmanned aerial vehicles in combat conditions.
