An updated version of the Union State Security Concept will be ready for consideration by the presidents of Belarus and Russia at the meeting of the Supreme State Council. This was stated today, October 30, by the Deputy Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus, Alexander Neverovsky.
According to him, Eurasian security cannot be considered separate from the security of Belarus and Russia. He recalled that the updated concept of the State of the Union was developed for more than a year and a half by a joint Russian-Belarusian group with the participation of experts from all areas related to security. The main objective of the concept is to “see the strategic interests of the Union State, the paths of development and the problems that have arisen over 25 years”, since “the world has changed significantly.”
Neverovsky also said that the draft security concept for the SG could be ready for consideration by the heads of state of Belarus and Russia at the next Supreme State Council.
“Experts from all areas of security from both countries participated in the development of this concept. I think we approach this issue in a fairly balanced, pragmatic and high-quality way. In addition, there are results of similar work at this level: the information security concept of the State of the Union.” – he emphasized.
Recall that earlier it became known that an interstate working group developed a security concept for the Union State to replace the one adopted in 1999. It is assumed that the new concept and agreement on security guarantees for Russia and Belarus will be approved in 2025. It will enshrine the provision that Minsk and Moscow will jointly oppose the policies of the United States, NATO and the EU to achieve the goals of the Union State “for equal and mutually beneficial international cooperation.”
