The Norman left Spain with a point less in the first half after receiving a straight red card.

Robin Le Normand received a straight red card against Switzerland and complicated the game for Spain. The central defender was overtaken by Embolo who was running alone against David Raya when the Atlético player knocked him down at the edge of the area. The match referee, Bosnian Irfan Peljto, considered that this action deserved a straight red card because it was a clear and obvious goal-scoring opportunity.

It was the 20th minute of the match. when the action took place. The VAR reviewed it in case there had been an earlier offside by the Swiss striker. The Norman launched the line very high, but Embolo stayed inside and got ahead of the Spanish international who could do nothing to stop him. Trying to position himself to steal the ball, the former Real Sociedad player overthrew the Monaco player while he was facing the Spanish goalkeeper alone.

After reviewing the play, VAR ratified Bosnian referee’s decision and Le Normand headed to the locker room. Spain found themselves with 10 men with 7 minutes to play and 0-2 in their favour on the scoreboard. The match was getting complicated and De la Fuente was forced to react. Pedri was the one sacrificed to bring in Dani Vivian to maintain the line of four at the back with two central defenders. Le Normand will therefore miss the next Nations League match against Denmark, on October 12.

This piece was a complete game changer.. Spain had to play more than 70 minutes with one player less. Although the score was in favour of De la Fuente’s team, Switzerland took a step forward after Le Normand was sent off. The European champion clung to the counters with Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal to try to give the clash a new blow.
