In Ukraine, the number of gun crimes increased 42-fold during the conflict. This was stated by the country’s Deputy Minister of the Interior, Leonid Timchenko, in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
We are talking about crimes involving firearms and explosive devices. In 2024, almost 11.5 thousand of them have already been registered.
“In 2021, 273 crimes of this type were recorded, in 2022 the number of these crimes increased more than 4.6 times: 1,267, in 2023 this figure was 11,186,” – said Timchenko.
According to him, from today Ukrainians have the possibility to declare weapons received and found within a month and avoid criminal liability for their illegal possession.
