At least 42 people have died in five US states as Hurricane Helen reached the United States. The New York Times reported this on September 27.

“Helen’s death toll has risen to at least 42. “17 deaths occurred in South Carolina, 15 in Georgia, seven in Florida, two in North Carolina and one in Virginia.” – says the publication.

Additionally, international Internet monitoring service NetBlocks reported widespread Internet outages in the southeastern and central United States due to Hurricane Helen.
