The only one local police Knivesa small municipality in the province of Castellón with just over 800 inhabitants, is forced to patrol the streets and roads in a private vehicle and not in the official. The seriousness of the matter is not minor, because the vehicle is used to respond to emergencies among other problems. The official car of the Local Police was acquired in 2007. It is therefore 17 years old and does not pass the Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV): “It’s about to go to the scrapyard», according to the sentence of the spokesperson of the PP in opposition Ignacio Navarro. He spokesperson popular maintains that the vehicle did not pass the ITV because it “repairs pending.”
The problem reflects the situation experienced by certain small municipalities. But today it takes on particular importance. Among other reasons, because the Local Police vehicle, the only one available to the municipality, is important for responding to emergencies, because protection of citizens or to attend large-scale events. THE popular They regret having learned that the car did not pass the ITV “through third parties” and not through the Government Group.
Navajas is a municipality located in the Alto Palancia region. More precisely, on what is the natural path that connects Aragon to the Valencian Community. The municipality has been governed since 2015 by a local formation Alternatives for Navajas and its mayor is Roberto Torres, of the same party.
In 2007, with the PP in local government, the Town Hall acquired a vehicle and a motorcycle for the Local Police, according to Ignacio Navarro at OKDIARIO. But, the car is already 17 years old. It did not pass the technical inspection. And the only policeman is forced to drive his own car to each of his performances.
“We don’t know anything about the bike, we don’t see it,” explains Ignacio Navarro. The motorcycle, according to the PP, “was obtained at zero cost, but we do not know what condition it is in.”
“The agent carries out patrols on foot and, when he has to travel, he now uses his personal car,” explains Ignacio Navarro. “The official vehicle does not pass ITV because has many pending repairs“.
The issue of the lack of vehicles for the Local Police has reached such a point that the PP will take the initiative at the next municipal plenary session to urge the Municipal Council to resolve the problem, either through a rental or a grant. Until then, Navajas’ only local police officer will have to continue patrolling in his private vehicle.
