PP, Vox and Junts rejected on Tuesday the bill promoted by the Tenants’ Union and other social organizations aimed at limiting seasonal and room rentals. Sumar, Podemos, EH Bildu, ERC and BNG supported this bill that calls for regulating rents to reduce speculation and better protect tenants.

Born to a Spanish mother and a Palestinian father, Sira Abed Rego was born in Valencia 50 years ago and spent her childhood in the West Bank until moving to Madrid. A Communist Party activist, feminist and environmentalist, she was an Izquierda Unida councilor in the Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council, then IU spokesperson until she made the big jump to Brussels as second on the Unidas Podemos list in the European Parliament, until her return last year.
