He El Greco Music Festival in Toledo returns next Saturday, November 9, with a monographic cycle of “Organ Battles” which are the emblem of the competition and are consolidated as one of the most important cultural events in the city.
At the festival, four expert organists discuss and challenge each other in interpretations and improvisations. The concerts will take place at the Toledo Cathedral on Saturdays, November 16, 23 and 30.
The first Battle will be dedicated to Los Angeles, the second will recall the Battle of Salado – during which the united troops of Castile and Portugal defeated the Benimerines – and finally the last concert It will be dedicated to King David, recognized as king and prophet by Judaism.Islam and Christianity.
In this edition it will be maintained the educational program ‘Parlons du Concert’. These are sessions during which eminent musicologists, music critics and even the musicians participating in the festival themselves will offer an introduction to the day’s program which will allow participants to discover in more detail to the composers, instruments and the mechanisms for preparing a statement of these characteristics. They will take place in the summer chapter room of the Cathedral one hour before each concert.
The Festival, born on the occasion of the celebrations of the Greco Year and which has established itself as a major cultural event in the city, was recognized by the Cultural Observatory of the Contemporary Foundation as one of the best cultural events of Castile-La Mancha of the year 2017. edition to the tenth edition held in 2023.
The El Greco Music Festival of Toledo is organized by the Royal Foundation of Toledo with the participation of the City Hall of Toledo, the Provincial Deputation of Toledo, the Government of Castile-La Mancha and the Primary Cathedral.
