Yun announced a military emergency on December 3, 2024 against the backdrop of more and more serious political pressure – starting from a parliamentary impasse to a corruption scandal that his government completed. He claimed that an extreme step was taken to protect the country from the “anti -state power”, which he called the sympathetic North Korea. However, Yoon could not submit convincing evidence of the prosecution.
This crisis shocked the political stability of South Korea, the country that was under the military regime for decades before, finally, returning to the path of democracy in the late 1980s.
As a result of a disputed decision, a number of high -ranking officials in the Yun government were removed and detained. Yun himself was held accountable, suspended from his position, and now he is judged on charges of an uprising.
For several months, South Korea was in political uncertainty. The folk force party, which previously became the ruling party near young, experienced a great failure.
In the interrupted elections that took place in June, the opposition candidate Lee Zheh Mong was successfully elected president.
Exactly 30 days after the opening, President Lee said that his government would try to establish the best relations with North Korea – back correctly with a tough approach adopted by his predecessor.
