The Parliament of Ukraine approves a voluntary set of more than 60 years

The Parliament of Ukraine, the Higher Rada, approved on Wednesday the bill in the first reading, which allows to recruit more than 60 years. The country is trying to react to the lack of troops in the Armed Forces.

According to the legislative text, during martial law, each person over 60 years old can voluntarily enter the Ukrainian army and within one year after the excess of relevant medical tests. There is an opportunity to expand the contract.

In February 2022, in the early days of the Russian invasion, President Volodymyr Zelensky had already announced that he would free prisoners with real experience in battle and wanted to “compensate for his guilt”, protecting the country.

Then, in April 2024, since the war continued, it reduced military recruiting aged 27 to 25 years. A few weeks before the 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers of the dead were encrypted from the moment of invasion of the Russian invasion.

There are also a number of men who fled to other countries or live hidden to avoid the set. Others, however, lived outside the country or traveled, but decided to return to fight with the Ukrainian army against the Russian troops.
